After a month of NaPoWriMo (I, once again, made it halfway through and am now playing catch up), April is over. April has been the best month in 2026 so far, for me. Mostly because, on 4/20, I got engaged!!
We went on a 5 day national park trip throughout Colorado and Utah, which also made me realize how important it was to disconnect from my poem-a-day practice and daily reading habit. Forcing myself to be ultra-disciplined is so 2025. Look what engagement has done to me, lol.
I saw my friend Lee post this on Instagram for National Poetry Month and thought it was genius. What a comparison, I don’t think I’ll ever see the ocean the same again!

3. “Goodbye” by Geoffrey Brock
Currently drafting this from Day 10 of NaPoWriMo (aka April 10th), where this poem was used as inspiration behind the prompt at NaPoWriMo.net, the place I personally use to participate in the writing challenge every year! I love the simplicity yet gut punch of grief dragged throughout this one. The traveling coming back with the closing line feels so satisfying to read.
4. “Grief Lessons” by Emily Skaja
Diamonds are a reccuring image for me this month, it seems. Beautifully conveyed ideas!
5. “Enter Book” by Dahlia Taha, translated by Sara Elkamel
Such a stunning meditation on books and the power of reading. I shared this on Fable and the community there adored it just as much as I do. This highlights the blessing that books are.
I’ll keep this post short because I am exhausted from the hectiness of this month. Here’s a few extra engagement pics though!!
